  Every year the towns people of Mussomeli celebrate the festa of the Madonna the patron saint of the town. The day starts with 20 cannon shots and mass, announcing the beginning of the famous festivals of Our Lady of Miracles in Mussomeli.
  
  The origin of this festival comes from a miracle which happened in 1530. It all started one day in the summer, when a paralised man dreamt the Madonna. Upon waking, the man discovered that he regained the use of his legs and ran into the country to proclaim the miracle.
  
  Since then, began the pilgrimages to the place of miracles, where it seems that later a stone was found that represents the image of the Madonna and Child, the “Madonna dei Miracoli”
  
  It was here where the painting was found they constructed shrine that holds the stone and the statue of the Virgin. The Church of “ Santuario della Madonna”.
