Castello di Mussomeli

The Chiaramonte Castle, built in between 1364 – 1367 in Norman-Gothic style. It stands on a high crag at 778 meters, situated just 2 km outside the town of Mussomeli. It has large halls, dungeons and torture cells, and a chapel with a precious alabaster depicting the Madonna dell Catena (1516). Located near the castle are the ruins of a Greek-Italic village.

We are able to arrange an English speaking tourist guide to escort you at the spectacular “Castello di Mussomeli”.  Enjoy stunning far reaching view of the Sicilian landscape. An amazing experience not to be missed while staying in Mussomeli.

By night in the summer the castle is often illuminated in the colours on the Italian Flag and the regional colours of the Sicilian flag (Sicilian: Bannera dâ Sicilia; Italian: Bandiera della Sicilia)
